Dear Tim,
Do you spend far too much time surfing the
'Net to find what you seek? Do you have an
unlimited number of bookmarks indicating
where your favorite informational sites are?
Do you miss important Calls for Entry?
Welcome to the first issue of Red Dog News. I
know it's an irreverent title for a
photography newsletter, but when I was trying
to come up with a name for this new venture,
I turned around and saw a reddish ceramic dog
sitting on my bookshelf. It was destined to
be. Sometimes we will be off-the-wall, but
most of the time we will be trying to bring
you news and information that you can use. We
will cover the world of photography:
traditional, digital, video, calls for entry,
wonderful accomplishments, workshops,
organizations, new opportunities,
announcements, etc.
We are presently working with manufacturers
and suppliers to have products available for
random drawings for our readers. Red Dog News
will be delivered to your inbox every other
week and it is all about you! You can drive
the editorial content in just about any
direction, just by letting us know what we
are missing.
As with most everything these days, the
expense of producing just about anything
costs money, even an email newsletter. As
such, when you click on the Red Dog "Donate"
button (left),you will be able to
donate whatever you choose to Red Dog News.
You can also just send a check to "Red Dog
News," to the address at the bottom of this
newsletter.
Now, take a bit of time and read through the
inaugural edition of Red Dog News and let us
know what you think. Are we on the mark? Too
much of one thing and not enough of another?
Do you want more of everything?

| Lightmark captures Light Painting in Nature |

German photographic duo Cenci Goepel and Jens
Warnecke have posted a collection of images
featuring strange, otherwordly effects in
settings of pristine nature. In settings as
diverse as Death Valley, Tierra Del Fuego in

exposures are used while light is introduced
into a dark outdoors scene. By moving either
the light source or camera, the photographers
