The Darlow Report
by Andrew Darlow
4/16/09

Spring is in the air, and it seems as though there is no shortage of
photo events, exhibitions and other photo-related happenings...happening. In this edition, I link to a recent article that I wrote about printer RIPs, talk about an upcoming festival in NYC, suggest a website, and mention some upcoming workshops.

Recent Article on Printer RIPs
I recently wrote an article about RIPs (and products that are similar
to RIPs) for Professional Photographer magazine. They posted the
article in its entirety here:

rips-1-1.html

After looking closely at all of them, I was surprised to see how many
features many of the RIPs have added over the years.

NYPH09
New York Photography Festival Returns to DUMBO
Last year I covered the NYPH inaugural for my website/blog, The
Imaging Buffet. I thought that the event was fantastic and in many
ways, it reminded me of Les Rencontres d'Arles, which I had the honor
of presenting at in 2006 (the topic was fine-art inkjet printing).
The work at the New York Photography Festival 2008 was very diverse,
well presented, and the talks/presentations were excellent.

Below is a link to my show coverage of NYPH08:

This year, like last, there will be Portfolio Reviews, a Gala Awards
Ceremony, both "Main" and "Satellite" Exhibitions, Parties, and much
more.

In addition, the show: "New Visionaires 2008" (a printed
exhibition showing the works of last year’s New York Photo Awards
2008 Winners and Honorable Mentions) will be hung in the Tobacco
Warehouse, as part of the upcoming New York Photo Festival 2009.

Also, don't miss the Review Pavilion Masterclass Workshops (they look
impressive):

******* Quick Website Suggestion-www.jgsinc.org
JGSINC

I recently looked through the incredible archives online at
www.jgsinc.org. The variety of work from hundreds of artists on the
site (located under "The Collection") is simply incredible.

The Joy of Giving Something, Inc. (JGS) is a not-for-profit
corporation dedicated to encouraging aesthetic reflection about
present realities and future possibilities. Go to: www.jgsinc.org

Enjoy!
