Red Dog Journal/Cygnet Press
2009 Photography Contest

Red Dog Journal and Cygnet Press are partnering in an effort to bring photographers a unique opportunity to promote their work and talent. Those working in all styles and schools of thought are invited to submit their work for consideration in this call for entries. Traditional, contemporary, avant-garde, creative and experimental works that include new processes, mixed techniques, and challenging personal, emotional, or political statements are welcome.

Eligibility:
The contest is open to all professional and amateur, domestic and international photographers working with digital or traditional photography or combinations of both. CDs only will be accepted for consideration. No slides or prints. CDs will not be returned, but will be destroyed after use.

Entry Preparation:
• Use one standard CD for all pictures entered from each individual entrant. Please (legibly) print your complete name, phone number and email address on the CD. Save all images at 100 dpi, jpg format, rgb or grayscale files. Each image should be no greater than 600 pixels high and 950 pixels wide.
• Title each image file begining with your last name, first name, and title of image. Please number them if they are untitled. Example: lastname,firstname,imagetitle.jpg
• Please open all images BEFORE sending, to ensure they open properly. Images that do not open will not be judged.
• All entries will only be accepted on CDs. There will be no online entries.

Entry Fee(s):
$25.00 for the first three images, $10/per additional image, with a ten-image total limit. All fees are in U.S. dollars. For international entries, please email us at info@reddognews.com for additional information. Along with your entry, please send check (payable to Cygnet Press, addresses below), money order, or credit card. For credit card payment, please include card number, expiration date, name on card, legal signature, and three-digit CVS number on the back of the card. Entry fee(s) are non-refundable.

July 15, 2009: Entries due. All entries must be postmarked no later than this date.
July 30, 2009: Winners announced

Releases:
Photo releases, if necessary, must be readily available and furnished upon request.

Use Rights:
By submission for jurying, artists whose images are chosen grant Red Dog Journal/Cygnet Press the right to use their images for the purpose of subsequent display on the Red Dog Journal website. Artists grant the use of their image(s) as stated without further contact or compensation from the Red Dog Journal/Cygnet Press. Artist’s recognition will be provided with use.

In your package:
• On a separate piece of paper please type your name, address, phone number, and email (to be used for all notification), website (if you have one). For each image, list the title (which will be published if your image is selected), location, and year the image was taken, if known. All photographs will be juried on their individual merit. Please do not send an artist statement or curriculum vitae.

• Pleased follow the guidelines to ensure proper entry and to avoid delays. We will not be responsible for packages not arriving on time or missing.
