Ramblings...#11
It's been a long time... but the wait was worth it! I’m back! Of course I had to wait a couple of weeks for all of me to “get here.” I have been on vacations before where I didn’t have that good of a time, and before it was time for me to come home I was ready to leave. This time it was different. It is very difficult for me to remember a vacation where I had so much fun, met so many interesting people, did so many things that my heart is still pumping with excitement. And… of course I have pictures. Lots and lots of images I will be sharing with you once I get them sorted. When that happens I will put them up on my personal website in a specific gallery. I will also have images from attending a workshop taught by my friend, Lucien Clergue; there will also be a separate story because I was there not only for my own photography, but for Lucien as well. When I first emailed him and told him I was going to be in France, he implored me to come to his workshop, as he indicated it might be his last.(?) Taking a workshop with him would be like taking tennis lessons from the best tennis player in the world. But, of course, much more on that later. And much on southwestern France, too!
I had been to France twice before and each time I carried the weight of whatever it was I was working on back home with me (and believe me, that baggage was heavy and very dark!). It didn’t bode well for my traveling partner, as well. This time, however, it was different. I had worked very hard to get a great deal of things to a state of completion; enough so that I didn’t have to worry about them while I was gone! And I have to tell you, the vacation did me a world of good. I came back refreshed, full of enthusiasm, and with a wealth of ideas to make Red Dog News and Red Dog Journal better than ever! Most of all, however, my traveling partner still likes me! Those changes will become more evident in the coming weeks, because I will be gone again next week to visit my newly-born grandson in the Seattle area. This will give me a chance to visit that family as well as spend time with my other son and his partner. Something I definitely don’t do enough! A couple things we will be pursuing in the near future will be a program for buying and selling photographic art, and a new website dedicated to the fine art nude photographer. We will also be working with Santa Fe Workshops for an exclusive project that will be sure to attract your attention. At my other venture, Rio Grande Workshops (www.riograndeworkshops.com), my time away has allowed my partner Pat Berrett and I to come up with some very good ideas that promise to make those workshops much more educational, informative, and fun.
One thing I would like to explore with you, though, is how your photography business is doing. If you are making a substantial part of your income from photography, drop me an email (tim@cygnetpress.com) and let me know how you are doing. When I write about it I do not intend to use names, I just want the information. Be sure to let me know where you are from and what kind of photography you do. So, how has your summer been so far? Have you been shooting as much as you’d like? Have you been able to have some much-need down time? Have you hugged your partner and/or your children? Oh, yes, and have you made a little money on the way? These are all wonderful tasks that we should do much more that we do. Until the next time… ------- Timothy B. Anderson Archives Off we go! |
